We have our very own qualified lawn bowls coaches at the club for anyone who wants to learn, improve their game, ask at the club for more information in regards availability.

Gaythorne Lawn Bowls Club has qualified coaches and they ensure new bowlers receive coaching and rules tuition in the game of bowls. All new bowlers must have between 5 and 10 lessons, before being permitted to play on programmed playing days.

Bowling tips for beginners

The larger ball is a bowl.

The small white or yellow ball is the jack.

The club supplies these for casual players.

The aim of the game is to get your bowl as close to the jack as possible.

The Bowls don't roll in a straight line, but in a curve.

All Lawn Bowls have icons on each side, The bowl will always turn towards the smaller icon

You stand on a mat (supplied by the club) and bowl from alternate ends.

The green consists of a number of rinks. You play on a rink.
